THE WELLINGTON TOWER Reference-Level Innovation

The Wellington Tower is our flagship loudspeaker: a 2-way active mass-loaded transmission line engineered without compromise. Advanced precision cabinetry, best-in-class custom drivers, unique diffusion and dispersion characteristics, constrained layer damping (CLD), advanced absorption materials, and a built-in isolation system combine to deliver a reference-level listening experience.

The Tweeter. The custom 29mm beryllium dome with integrated aluminum waveguide represents the pinnacle of high-frequency transducer design. Developed by former Vifa/Scan-Speak engineers, this driver features a 170mm controlled-directivity waveguide, dual copper caps on the T-shaped pole piece, dual balanced compression chambers, and a non-reflective optimally damped rear cavity. Vance Dickason's Voice Coil Test Bench measured on-axis response within 2.5dB from 394Hz to 9kHz and within 3.3dB from 394Hz to 17kHz, with beryllium extension reaching 40kHz. Two-sample matching was within 0.3dB throughout the operating range. The cumulative spectral decay waterfall shows extremely fast energy dissipation, characteristic of beryllium's exceptional stiffness-to-mass ratio. Powered by a dedicated 100W N-core amplifier channel, and in room tuned to +/- 1db

The Mid/Subwoofers. The custom dual opposed 9-inch aluminum cone subwoofers feature a Balanced Drive motor with aluminum shorting ring (Faraday shield), delivering largely eliminated even-order harmonic distortion. Vance Dickason's Voice Coil Test Bench performed full Klippel analysis confirming a moderately broad and mostly symmetrical Bl(X) curve with only 0.9mm coil-in offset at rest, transitioning to less than 0.5mm offset near the physical excursion limit. The KMS stiffness curves showed symmetrical compliance with only minor offset throughout the operating range. Inductance variation measured just 0.9 to 0.5mH from full-in to full-out travel, demonstrating the effectiveness of the aluminum shorting ring. On-axis frequency response was smooth within approximately 2dB out to 2kHz. Dickason concluded the driver is a "well-crafted transducer." Each driver receives a dedicated 250W N-core amplifier channel for 500W of total bass power.

The Crossover. Fully active crossovers featuring 15 cascaded second-order filters per driver deliver 180 dB/octave slopes, achieving surgical precision between drivers with virtually zero overlap. The tri-amplified system provides 600 watts of total N-core ultra-low distortion power: 250W to each bass driver and 100W to the beryllium tweeter.

The Transmission Line. At the heart of the Wellington is a 65-inch, five-times-folded mass-loaded transmission line. This labyrinthine internal architecture captures unwanted mid and high-frequency reflections while extending bass output down to 16Hz. Full-frequency performance spans 16Hz to 40kHz, tuned to within 1dB in-room. A built-in isolation system decouples the cabinet from the listening environment.

The Cabinet. These are not standard wooden boxes. Every Wellington Tower is precision CAD-optimized and CNC-machined from Baltic birch hardwood in an asymmetrical architecture where no two panels share the same dimensions, virtually eliminating standing waves while generating complex diffraction and diffusion patterns. Front and rear baffles are 1.5 inches thick, comprising 32 layers of hardwood. Internally, a constrained layer damping (CLD) system combined with advanced ultra-absorbent materials and technologies controls residual panel resonance. The hand-polished, mirror-finish, four-stage automotive paint completes the striking aesthetic. What you hear is the music, not the enclosure or the room.
